I don't believe the Charles Bass company ever made a thousand cameras in their entire career. I believe that they started with serial number 1000 and this is the forty eighth camera made. I actually don't think they ever made two hundred cameras as Bass cameras are extremely rare. This camera deserves to be preserved and cared for by all it's future owners.
