As with all cameramen, even today's Cinematographers up-grade equipment
that makes their job easier or dramatically improves the image. Nothing
stands still in the motion picture industry for long. If it does stand
still it is soon obsolete and on the shelf gathering dust, replaced
by a more modern piece of usable equipment. This camera was sold on
10 January 1923 and I am sure it went onto an Akeley head as soon
as the need for following any kind of action was realized. A Mitchell
side finder was the norm as the Bell & Howell side finder was
small and you had to get your eye close in order to see the image.
Mitchell side finders had a big image that was viewed best from a
reasonable operating distance behind the camera.
