This camera is in remarkable condition seeing it is from such an early
period of film making. When this camera was engineered by Alfred Darling,
cameras worked almost every day. The pictures were all one reelers.
It was rare that any film was more than eight or ten minutes long.
Stages were glass like a greenhouse made for plants. This kept the
wind from blowing the curtains and papers around on the sets. It kept
the weather out but allowed sunlight in to expose film. Large powerful
lights weren't in use yet. Large cloth diffusers were used to keep
hard shadows from showing on the sets.
