I'm not sure if they could have
started making cameras again at the end of World War II. The
factory was gone but I think almost all the staff was gone too.
Many German Ernemann cameras didn't survive through the hyper
inflationary period around 1927 through 1933. The German economy
was in such catastrophic ruins that during the tough winters,
out of desperation, people burned anything made from wood,
musical instruments, lath boards out of their houses and even
their cameras.
