Throughout all these early wood camera's working careers they were
modified to more modern after-market up grades. This camera has an
aluminum front lens board. I believe that this was done for one of
two reasons. Either the original lens board was damaged and replaced
with the aluminum lens board or the wood lens board expanded and contracted
too much with moisture and heat and humidity changes and the owner,
for focus reasons, wanted something more stable to mount his lens
on.
