On the rear of the camera are three special gages that indicate the footage shot, the frames shot and the angle the shutter is on. With these three gages and the special mechanical design some very professional special effects can be produced, in camera.

It has a dissolving shutter that works perfectly. While cranking the camera you press a button on the top of the camera and the shutter automatically closes over the time of 8 cranks or in other words in the length of 4 feet of film. This makes a perfect fade out. If you wanted an overlapping dissolve you would leave the shutter closed and wind back 8 cranks and take the camera to your next setup, press the other button on the top of the camera and start cranking and you would then get an "in camera" overlapping dissolve. It was one of the most desired demonstrations of camera professionalism to overlap dissolve in the early days of cinema.
