This camera is so very beautiful on the outside. It is a true show stopper. It evokes a sense of wonder and has a fabulous surprise to it when you open the side doors. Every person I have shown this camera to has had the same interesting reaction. Looking at this amazing set of gears while turning the crank makes people's mouths drop open. The sets of gears are just fantastic to see and hear run. The gears have all their factory original luster. The Moy company used an incredible finish to over coat the polished brass gears. It's a coating that has lasted nearly a hundred years with no cracking, chipping or peeling.

Finding the proper set of gears to run the camera both forwards and backwards,  pull the film down one frame at a time, take up and feed film, and dissolve the shutter was an incredible feat of engineering. This had to be done in a completely unique and patentable way in order to avoid other manufacturer's patented film transports. Moy & Bastie had to reinvent the movie wheel to be able to manufacture this camera. They did an incredible job with this mechanical marvel. First Patented in 1909.
