John Arthur Prestwich was one of the earliest makers of cameras. The earliest Prestwich camera is from 1898, maybe a bit earlier. The first cameras had the magazines or film boxes on the outside of the camera but he and all the other camera manufacturers, except for Pathe, soon decided that for reasons of light leaking on the film it was best to enclose the magazines inside the camera body.
